GCSE English (KS4) & Pre-GCSE English (KS3)

At Tutors4GCSE we strive to make learning English enjoyable. Our small group tuition sessions will allow you to work at your own pace and focus on the GCSE English topics you struggle with. Our tutors will not only work to develop your knowledge and understanding of English, they will also increase your motivation and build confidence. Activities will be varied within each tuition session to keep learning fun.

Our GCSE tutors will go out of their way to ensure you are getting the most out of your lessons and will help with homework topics.

Our sessions are not like being at school but will use many different approaches to make learning enjoyable. You will learn at your own pace on your own areas for improvement, working in a small group with the help of a friendly, supportive tutor. Sessions will include a variety of individual, paired and group activities and will include interactive resources when relevant.

Reading at key stage 3 is wide, varied and challenging. Learners are expected to read whole books, to read in depth and to read for pleasure as well as information.

Learners continue to develop their knowledge of and skills in writing, refining their drafting skills and developing resilience to write at length. They write formal and academic essays as well as writing imaginatively. They also write for a variety of purposes and audiences across a range of contexts. This requires an increasingly wide knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.

Learners are expected to control their speaking and writing consciously, understand why sentences are constructed as they are and to use Standard English. They should understand and use age-appropriate vocabulary, including linguistic and literary terminology, for discussing their reading, writing and spoken language. This involves consolidation, practice and discussion of language.
